Baby Boy (2001)
Crime, Drama, Romance, Thriller • 2h 10m
Overview
The story of Jody, a misguided, 20-year-old African-American who is really just a baby boy finally forced-kicking and screaming to face the commitments of real life. Streetwise and jobless, he has not only fathered two children by two different women-Yvette and Peanut but still lives with his own mother. He can't seem to strike a balance or find direction in his chaotic life.

Criterion 4K Blu-ray (included in John Singleton's Hood Trilogy set)
Criterion 4K Blu-ray is better than the earlier Sony 4K Blu-ray, which suffered from low-pass filtering and poor compression. Caps
Original matrixed Dolby Stereo mix: Criterion 4K Blu-ray, a better transfer than the Sony 4K Blu-ray
The Sony 4K Blu-ray includes an earlier 5.1 remix, which is mostly faithful to the original mix and lightly enhances and opens it up, as well as Dolby Atmos remix which is slightly more aggressive.
Criterion's release also includes a different Atmos remix to the one included from Sony, significantly more aggressive than previous releases, going for a more "immersive" feel.

The Criterion 4K Blu-ray has marginally better detail and grain structure than ESC 4K Blu-ray
The ESC France 4K Blu-ray is an SDR grade erroneously presented in HDR, but if your player can force the HDR into SDR it looks very good.

Criterion 4K Blu-ray or Germany Plaion 4K Blu-ray - subtle difference in encoding to the Criterion in encoding, trading blows in different shots, with Plaion taking a slight edge with less highlight blocking
1993 MGM LaserDisc/2000 Region 1 MGM DVD
Criterion's 2.0 sounds muffled due to noise reduction and EQ.
Plaion's 2.0 lacks bass and has a very bright EQ, more resembling the 5.1 remix. Plaion’s 2.0 doesn't have any filtering unlike the Criterion, see https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=23831289&postcount=110
