Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki founded this Tokyo animation studio in 1985, and it has been a subsidiary of Nippon TV since 2023. Its Japanese discs are issued with Walt Disney Studios Japan under the Ghibli ga Ippai banner, as single films and director box sets that usually carry English subtitles. Princess Mononoke reached Japanese 4K UHD in June 2026, with English subtitles only on the bundled Blu-ray.
