The 2026 re-release corrects cropping and grading on some VFX shots, otherwise it's the same master with better encoding.

Original 5.1 mix: Universal Blu-ray

The old BD (2009 with many later identical re-releases) is very good, compared even to the theatrical DTS track, over which it has a slight edge thanks to discrete LFE (as theatrical DTS tracks derive LFE from other channels).

The 2018 4K includes a relatively tasteful DTS:X remix, the 2026 #4K includes a more revisionistic Dolby Atmos remix, with more added foley effects and a significant frequency roll-off. Neither of the remixes is as punchy as the original mix.

UK Universal 4K Blu-ray is missing Kino Lorber extras

Mainframe Entertainment, one of the co-producers of this movie, while based in Canada, made their content for 25 FPS/the PAL standard, making the 2002 Australian PAL Universal DVD release the one closest to the original intent (and it also has a higher resolution of 576i compared to the 480i of the NTSC offerings).

Note, for the NTSC DVD offers, not all have the correct aspect ratio. The 2015 US and Canadian Universal releases have the intended 1.78:1, while the 2010 Universal and 2001 Lionsgate are both shown in 1.85:1.

Universal Blu-ray (included in the 4K edition) has the original 5.1 mix not on the 4K disc 

The original 5.1 surround mix from the 2011 USA BD was included alongside the new Atmos upmix. The compatibility track is a downmix of the Atmos. The Atmos is overall lightly remixed with noticeably more high frequencies rolled-off relative to the old 5.1. I think the 5.1 sounds better. The 5.1 mix from the USA BD was used as it sounds essentially the same as the EUR BD (with some minor loudness differences) while not featuring the dither noise and low frequency noise that the EUR has. Commentaries between the USA UHD and USA BD are the same, with both featuring Dolby Surround metadata

The Universal Blu-ray is slightly filtered and DNR'd compared to the HD-DVD, and the Universal 4K Blu-ray, on top of being upscaled, adds additional DNR and is softer than both previous HD releases.
