This is a candidate list for Perfect Release.

According to past releases, 4Ks released by Sony usually comes with original mix (or at least close to it), but their picture is usually more blurry and unfaithful to the original colors.

Universal's 4K also have the same blurriness problem.

Those released by Arrow have a high chance of including the original mix and more importantly well-compressed picture.

Criterion since around 2024 has been featuring good and accurate color grading on their 4K release, but the sound track is usually noise-reduced to some extent.

Shout Factory's image compression used to be not good but has been showing improvement recently.

Kino Lorber since 2025 is notorious for unacceptable image compression that are full of block artifacts. But fortunately they seems to be mostly free from blurriness, unlike others.

Other labels, especially major Hollywood studios are inconsistent.

(in the future)

  • basically any Arrow release, Ignite films, Celluloid Dreams, Indicator/Powerhouse and Radiance release unless specifically mentioned

  • Rambo 1-5 Collection (1 is slightly blurry, 2 is..., 3 is meh compression)

  • falling down

  • soylent green

Atmos track on Arrow cuts off the end credits music 1 minute before the credits end. 5.1 doesn't have this issue.

Digital 4K appears to be fixed. Could the International WB 4K Blu-ray also be fixed?
