(caveat: has a slight error)

StudioCanal 2025 4K Blu-ray/Blu-ray uses a new 4K restoration. Even though France release, they included EN subtitles.

For Blu-ray, StudioCanal 2025 Blu-ray > Kino Lorber > StudioCanal.

See DVDBeaver comparisons

Mono track is on the included Blu-ray; 4K Blu-ray missing original mono. LaserDisc probably better

1995 Columbia LaserDisc

The Criterion 4K Blu-ray has marginally better detail and grain structure than ESC 4K Blu-ray

The ESC France 4K Blu-ray is an SDR grade erroneously presented in HDR, but if your player can force the HDR into SDR it looks very good.

2011 Criterion Blu-ray

2011 Criterion Blu-ray has the least tampered with audio of the DVD era, but it's possible the 1993 Criterion LaserDisc or the 1998 Japan LaserDisc are preferable.

4K Blu-ray upcoming in Fall 2026

1989 MGM LaserDisc

(caveat: "there's" in first "there's no place like home" utterance in final Kansas scene truncated)

Criterion 4K Blu-ray (review)

Criterion 4K Blu-ray scheduled for Dec 2026 release

Criterion 4K Blu-ray (not by much, caps)

Closest to original: 1995 Columbia LaserDisc

But Sony 4K Blu-ray is the best available one.

From cbc:

I much prefer the 4K Blu-ray track. LaserDisc has several nasty constant hums, and even after you remove that, the detail level is on-par with the 4K Blu-ray and has a lot of crackling. The 4K Blu-ray has some variable noise reduction, but it's done well and non-intrusive IMO, I watched it with that track and was happy.

HBO MAX WEB-DL/2000 R1 MGM DVD

Shout! Factory Blu-ray

Kino Lorber has some additional noise reduction. Universal NTSC DVD's worse than either of the Blu-rays.
