Films where New Yorker's release is the pick. How picks are made

Dan Talbot started New Yorker Films in 1965 as an offshoot of his Manhattan repertory house, the New Yorker Theater. It brought foreign and independent films by Godard, Sembène, Rivette, Fassbinder and Herzog to US audiences, later on DVD. It closed in February 2009 after its parent defaulted on a loan and restarted under new owners in March 2010, but its website has been a placeholder since at least 2018.
