Leading role · Director: John Hughes
Sources: caps-a-holic (opens in a new tab)
Kino Lorber 4K Blu-ray see caps-a-holic, has good new master but as usual poorly encoded with macro blocking and chroma noise which is just as horrible. See also cap 4. Their Blu-ray looks much better in the above shot and is more consistently grainy.
Leading role · Directors: Gerald Potterton & John Bruno & John Halas & Julian Harris & Jimmy T. Murakami & Barrie Nelson & Paul Sabella & Jack Stokes & Pino Van Lamsweerde & Harold Whitaker
Leading role · Director: Howard Deutch
Kino Lorber 4K Blu-ray vs Kino Lorber Blu-ray, but the compression on the 4K is bad.
Leading role · Director: John Hughes
Paramount 4K Blu-ray has DNR applied but it is still much better than the bad Blu-ray
Leading role · Director: Mel Brooks
Original 70mm 6-track mix (4.1): Arrow 4K Blu-ray
5.1 remix: MGM Blu-ray
Arrow fixed the audio glitches found on Kino Lorber's disc.
The 5.1 remix on Arrow's disc sounds terribly tinny.
Supporting role · Director: Frank Oz
Theatrical Cut: Warner Bros 4K Blu-ray
Director's Cut: Warner Bros Blu-ray
The 4K Blu-ray has both a poor Dolby Atmos remix and the original theatrical Dolby Stereo mix in its best fidelity but only for the Theatrical Cut.
The Blu-ray has a 5.1 remix for the Director's Cut that, while inferior to the original theatrical Dolby Stereo mix, is still far superior to the Dolby Atmos remix on the 4K Blu-ray, and is the best option for the Director's Cut.
Only the DVD has the isolated score.
Supporting role · Director: Oliver Stone
Theatrical Cut 4K Blu-ray in August
Director's Cut: Shout! Factory 4K Blu-ray
Theatrical Cut: Shout! Factory Blu-ray (included with collector's edition)
Theatrical Cut: The Shout UHD DTS-HD 2.0
Theatrical Cut: The Shout UHD DTS-HD 2.0 seems to be the same mix overall as the 1992 laserdisc PCM 2.0 but its not a straight port. Even though there are some minor differences, it does not seem to be a downmix of the 5.1. It could possibly be a new mastering. It has just a tiny bit more dynamic range than the laserdisc, but the laserdisc has a bit more presence in the lower and midrange frequencies.
