The United States' national library, established in 1800, preserves its film and video holdings at the Packard Campus in Culpeper, Virginia. Early and public-domain films from the collection stream free in HD on loc.gov through the National Screening Room and on the Library's YouTube channel, which is how most of its titles reach viewers. The Library also runs the National Film Registry.
