Criterion John Cassavetes: Five Films boxset is very similar but better to BFI counterparts because the BFI encoding has a gamma bug that raises brightness level. Not sure about FR releases.
Video: all same HD restoration but encoding Criterion is better
Audio: BFI has better bitrate, but same audio tracks, so likely no difference
While boxsets only have 5 films, you can see the rest in the table below. Notably, Minnie and Moskowitz is the only movie without a bluray, and Big Trouble is available as bluray in a 4-film collection.
A Woman Under the Influence and Faces, Shadows have great new restorations by Ross Lipman at UCLA, but not released in discs according to DVDBeaver

Criterion is warmer and more lifelike than BFI. See DVDBeaver review for more capsBFI is brighter, but that's only because of a gamma bug, a common encoding issue that's easily corrected. After you do that, brightness is the same, though reds are different. Criterion has better encoding and doesn't have the bug so that's preferable.
